About the event
For those of you who are not familiar with this competition or haven't heard us previously talk about it, Block Kids is a National building competition that introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create awareness and promote careers in the industry. The competition materials include legos, a rock, string, and foil. The students have up to an hour to build a structure out of the provided materials. The winner will then hopefully go on to win the National competition which happened our first year of being a chapter and would be so cool to win again!
We are partnering with Positive Tomorrows for a 5th time and we are beyond excited to bring this experience to the children. We will be holding the competition for the 3rd-6th grade classes which will be around 50 kids which will be our biggest group yet!
If you are available to donate your time the morning of January 31st from 9-11am, we would love to have you! We are looking for judges, donations for class supplies, snacks, drinks, and goodie bag items. We will also need help counting out the lego supplies and sanitizing the legos.
The school asks that we do not include noise makers, hand sanitizers or candy.
If you or someone in your company would like to volunteer as a judge or would like to donate items, please get with Courtney Baker who is our Block Kids Chair or Jamie Cummings. We are looking to secure at least 12 judges for the competition. We encourage men to come join us for this event!
